Farmers Organic is a limited liability corporation based in Newton, GA. Since our inception it has been our objective to create a line of organic fertilizers made from completely composted poultry litter mixtures. This is in line with the company’s objectives to create a product that assists in the overall reduction of nitrate leaching and run-off, and contains no harmful pathogens. The feed stocks for Farmers Organic are supplied by a co-op of local farmers who are interested in an environmentally safe use of their litter. In most farming communities in Georgia the alternative is a direct application of litter to soil. This can be a very environmentally unfriendly process with increased probability of nitrate run-off and spread of harmful pathogens.
Consequently, chicken manure stands out as one the best feedstocks available for composting as it contains a large percentage of beneficial elements for optimum agricultural production. Southwest Georgia is an ideal setting for Farmers Organic for the reason that it is one of the largest agriculture and poultry producing areas of the country. |
